Sonos Airplay Setup New Speaker

We’re very excited to announce that you will now be able to control your music directly from the Soundtrack app.  The app’s music-control features include  play, pause, skip, volume control, playlist selection and music on-demand.

Moving forward, the Sonos app will no longer be used to control the music in-store.

* Important: do not connect the new Sonos Speaker until you complete the following two steps*

Update the S1 App

Before connecting your new speaker you must update the current Sonos S1 app that is currently installed on your iPad.
  1. Go to ‘settings
  2. Select ‘system’.  Scroll to the bottom of the page where it says ‘system tools
  3. Press ‘check for updates
  4. If it asks to ‘update now‘ select ‘yes‘.

Download the Sonos S2 app and install

*if the S2 app is not already downloaded to your iPad, it will prompt you to do so.

If not, please download the S2 app and install.

Going forward, you will no longer be using the S1 app. You have now upgraded to the S2.

Add your new Sonos One SL speaker

  1. Place your Sonos One SL speaker in your desired location close to the existing group of speakers and connect to a power source.
  2. Open the S2 Sonos app on your iPad. Make sure you are within proximity of the new speaker.
  3. From the Settings tab        , tap System > Add Product.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to add your new product to your system.

Name the new speaker 'Master'

  1. When it asks “Where are you putting your Sonos One SL?” select “New Location”
  2. Enter custom name as “Master” then hit “Create

Establish Master speaker

1. Press on the equalizer button at the bottom of the screen to open up the system window.

2. With the system window open press on the room icon

3. This will open the rooms window. Uncheck all the rooms making sure only Master is checked.

Download the Soundtrack App

1. Close the Sonos App

2. Open the Catalog folder on the iPad desktop

3. Search for “Soundtrack Player” (red &  white logo) and install

4. Enter your pairing code that will be provided by Head of Retail.

(*please note in the event you need to re-pair in the future a new pairing code will be generated and this original one will no longer be active.)

Press play on a playlist

  1. Go to the Discover tab at the bottom of the Soundtrack App.
  2. Click on any playlist. It will open the playlist and show the songs.
  3. Press the play button under the title and the music will begin to play from your iPad.

You're ready to play Soundtrack on your Sonos system

  1. Look for the song that is playing at the bottom of the screen and click so that it opens a window with more detail

  2. Beside the stop/play control buttons click on the far right speaker icon

  3. A pop up will appear and click on connect speaker. All speakers will appear. Select them all to make sure the music is playing


  1. On the iPad, swipe down from the top right-hand corner of the screen. This will reveal the ‘control center’

  2. Press on the airplay button

  3. All speakers will appear. Select them all to make sure the music is playing on all your Sonos speakers.

You are all set! Going forward you will no longer play the music from the Sonos app. Instead you will control all the music from the Soundtrack Player app.

How to control the music from other iPads

Only one iPad can be designated as the main player but you can adjust the volume, change the playlist and skip/block a song from another iPad by installing the Soundtrack ‘remote’ app.

  1. From the Catalog folder install the Soundtrack Remote App.
  2. Ask your retail regional manager for your pairing code and enter it when prompted.
  3. Follow these steps and use the same code to install on any additional iPads in the store.
